I'm home! My sister and I spent the last two weeks camping all over California and Oregon, stopping along the way in the Redwoods, Hood River, Yosemite, Death Valley, and countless other beautiful places. Back in New Orleans, just in time for the scorching days of August!

My sister and brother-in-law will both be at Jazz Fest this weekend. Sarah will be selling her paintings in the Sakore Pavilion of Congo Square and Fredson, "Tedo", will be doing drum building demonstrations in the Folk Life Tent.

"Where They At" @ the Ogden Museum

Had so much fun at the Ogden Museum for the opening of Aubrey Edwards + Alison Fensterstock's "Where They At". The exhibition is a thorough and much needed record of the history of New Orleans bounce and hip-hop scene. "Where They At" includes photographs, listening stations, and written interviews with each musical artist. Show runs through August 1st. Here is a video from the opening party...sorry for the angle.

Cajun Mardi Gras in Mamou, Louisiana

I had been been wanting to experience the traditional Cajun Mardi Gras for years. Brady, Olivia, and I ended up making the trek north to Mamou, Louisiana, this year for cajun music, chicken chasing, and lots of dancing. Woah!!

After the craziness of Superbowl and then the chaos of Mardi Gras, I'm ready for a nap. Here is a video of one of the bands in Bacchus last night. Had such a great time!
